Community-University Partnership

In partnership with community leaders and residents of Chester, Pennsylvania, Widener University launched the Widener Partnership Charter School (WPCS) in September 2006. Located adjacent to the Widener University campus, the WPCS is a K-5 elementary school serving the families of the Chester-Upland School District. The school is in its third year of operation, and currently has an enrollment of approximately 200 kindergarten through third grade students. The school will reach full enrollment of 300 K-5 students in academic year 2010-11. Both Widener’s President and the Dean of Widener’s School of Human Service Professions are committed to making the WPCS a central component of the university’s partnership with the Chester community.
